The president of the UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, says that the turnout of the Hungarian community in the first round of the presidential elections was weaker than in the local ones on June 9, which is why he requested a concentration of the branches for the parliamentary elections, informs Agerpres.

"We see that we have an increase of almost 70,000 votes compared to the result of 2019. It is a very good thing, it is something that excites us, but it does not help us at the moment. Another possibility to make a comparison is the results of June 9, where we had a very good score, an extraordinary mobilization, and if we make this comparison, then we see that today the mobilization was weaker that's why, in terms of the final results, we are at 4.6%. If we had had the parliamentary elections, then maybe things would have been a little different, but we have to think about what we will do on December 1," Kelemen told a Monday's press conference held in Bistrita.

The UDMR leader pointed out that a better result of the party in the December 1 elections would ensure stronger parliamentary groups both in the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies.

Kelemen Hunor thanked all those who voted for him in the first round of the presidential elections and specified that an analysis of the votes will be made for each locality.
