The National Liberal Party (PNL) candidate for the presidential elections, Nicolae Ciuca, resigned on Monday from the position of president of the National Liberal Party, informs Agerpres.
"Dear Romanians, thank you for your trust! I am resigning from the position of president of the PNL", Nicolae Ciuca said in a video message.
He emphasizes that "the traditional parties, even with many programming errors, are the ones that must keep Romania united".
Also, Nicolae Ciuca says that the Liberal National Party is aware of the enormous stakes of these days.
"The National Liberal Party has the resources to show people all the good things it has done in these years, it has proof that the investments from European money have raised the standard of living of many communities. But more than that, the National Liberal Party is aware of the mistakes which it did and will fight to the end for Romania to remain a free and democratic country. PNL will not give in!", stated Ciuca.
The liberal declared that "the new leadership of the PNL will not be alone, because it has a wonderful army of mayors, presidents of county councils, local and county councilors, hundreds of thousands of members with a clean heart, willing to work for the country no matter how much it would be difficult for us".
"We have to change a lot, but we cannot change two things: our Euro-Atlantic option and the protection of what we, the Romanians, are. A faithful people, who do industry, IT and agriculture, also deal with crafts, have a resource of intelligence enormous, wants to protect and raise the local capital and has never lost hope Romanians, we understood what you wanted to convey to us! Despite the mistakes we made, we learned the lesson that the electorate conveyed to us and we will respect the decision of the Romanians. I thank all the citizens for their vote and I assure you all my respect!", concluded Nicolae Ciuca.
