By 5:30 PM on Sunday, 9.6 million voters had cast their ballot in the second round of the presidential elections, representing 53.39% of the person registered on the electoral rolls, according to data provided in real time by the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP).
Thus, the turnout registered at the end of the first round of the presidential elections, held on May 4, when 9,571,740 voters (53.21%) went to the polls, was exceeded on May 18, at at 5:30 PM.
In the diaspora, too, a record turnout of 1,420,000 votes was recorded at 5:30 PM, far more than the 940,000 voters at the end of the first round.
Most voters are in the 45-64 age group (39.26%), followed by those over 65 (22.44%), 35-44 (18.52%), 25-34 (12.36%) and 18-24 (7.43%).
