The Social Liberal Humanist Party's nominee for Romania's president Lavinia Sandru filed on Friday her candidacy with the Central Electoral Office, stating that she wants to join the electoral race for the "real Romania", which "deserves to be heard and respected.", informs Agerpres.
"I will be the president who will fight abuse because I want abuse to be wiped out in Romania once I am installed at the Cotroceni Palace. I will be the president who will make sure that there is no more abuse. I am running for the real Romania. Grassroots Romanians need their voices to be heard. In these 40 days since I set off on the caravan, I have traveled over 4,000 km across real Romania and let me tell you that the real Romania deserves to be heard and respected," declared Sandru.
She added that she proposes "a blue hotline for abuse reporting" to be opened at Cotroceni Palace, and those who commit such acts "will have the president of Romania swooping on them."
"When I announced my candidacy, I told you that I will be the president who will make sure that Romania doesn't disappear. There are 15 million of us within country borders, the rest are living outside, and Romania is dying out day by day, because the birth rate is negative. I will fight, I will roll out that demographic strategy that I will raise to the rank of absolute national priority, so that Romania does not disappear and it won't," Lavinia Sandru said.
"Believe me, I have the grit to fight for the real Romania and I am not afraid, I am not afraid of anyone who tries to shut me up. They have no reason to silence me. The real Romania must speak up," she added.
According to the presidential election calendar, the deadline for political parties, alliances, citizens' organizations belonging to national minorities and independent candidates to submit their presidential bid to the Central Electoral Bureau runs out on Saturday at midnight.
