As of 18:00hrs EEST on Sunday, 7,813,254 voters voted in the first round of the presidential election rerun, making up 43.44% of the number of the voters on the electoral rolls, according to data provided in real time by the Standing Electoral Authority (AEP), informs Agerpres.

In urban areas, 4,738,079 voters voted, and in rural areas, 3,075,175 voters.

As many as 82,461 voters used the mobile ballot box.

Of the 7,813,254 voters who voted as of 18:00hrs, 6,965,252 voted in the country, namely 38.72%, and 848,002 voted abroad.

Voting abroad started on Friday at 07:00hrs, local, and will end on Sunday at 21:00hrs, EEST.

High voter turnouts were recorded in the counties:

* Ilfov - 53.12% of the total voters on rolls;

* Arges - 41.38%;

* Giurgiu - 40.75%;

* Cluj - 39.87%;

* Constanta - 39.45%.

Low voter turnouts were recorded in the following counties:

* Vaslui - 27.45% of the total voters on rolls;

* Satu Mare - 29.80%;

* Covasna - 30.88%;

* Botosani - 32.35%;

* Harghita - 33.24%.

In Bucharest, the voter turnout was 40.6% as follows:

* Sector 1 - 46.34%;

* Sector 2 - 41.84%;

* Sector 3 - 34.02%;

* Sector 4 - 42.24%;

* Sector 5 - 37.89%;

* Sector 6 - 45.37%.

The data is presented in real-time on the www.roaep.ro website.

In 2024, in the first round of the presidential election, which was later cancelled, the turnout was 45.85% on Sunday at 18:00hrs.
