AUR (Alliance for the Union of Romanians) presidential candidate George Simion voted on Sunday at a polling station in Mogosoaia, with ex-presidential candidate [in the 2024 canceled presidential elections - editor's note] Calin Georgescu by his side.
After exercising his constitutional right, Calin Georgescu stated that "what is happening today is more than a vote, it is a confession" and that he voted for a Christian Romania, "which is worthy of God's love.", agerpres reports.
"I voted for the Romanian family, in which the words 'mother' and 'father' are sacred. I voted for our country, which more than ever needs love, forgiveness and healing. Finally, I would like us to remember the wise words of our ancestors who said: 'The more we are, the better,' so that we will be many at the polls and we will be strong," Georgescu said.
For his part, George Simion stated that he voted "against the injustices committed against the Romanian people."
"I voted against the inequities and humiliations to which our sisters and brothers have been subjected, within the current borders and everywhere, I voted against abuses and against poverty. I voted against those who disregard us all, but at the same time I voted for our future to be decided only by Romanians, for Romanians and for Romania. "So may God help us!," was Simion's message.
Initially, the two wanted to make statements near the ballot box, but they were not allowed by the police. "It's not very nice what you did, but there is no problem," Simion told the police.
The two came with their wives to vote. At the entrance, they were waited by several supporters.
