The domestic gas price will be capped as of May 1, one month later than initially provided by Government Emergency Ordinance (OUG) 114/2018, sources from the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) stated on Thursday.
According to OUG 114/2018, the price for domestic gas will be capped over April 1 2019 - February 28 2022, but the Government plans to modify the ordinance on Friday.
The postponement by one month was not included in OUG 114/2018 amendment draft published on Tuesday on the Website of the Ministry of Finance.
In early March, the European Commission launched the infringement procedure against Romania saying that OUG 114/2018 breaks the European directives in the natural gas sector.
OUG 114/2018 stipulates, among other things, that the domestic gas price will be capped at 68 lei per MWh.
