Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Romanian Crown hosted an evening dedicated to the Republic of Moldova on Wednesday, at the Elisabeta Palace, where Prince Radu expressed on this occasion his joy at taking part in the gathering of "a family as large as a nation."

"Her Majesty and I are deeply pleased to say 'Welcome!' today at the Elisabeta Palace, to a great, great family gathering. A family as large as a nation, a family defined by shared ideals of freedom and democracy, dignity and faith, hope for the future and a vision directed toward European and transatlantic values, a great family that comes together today with even more hope for the present and the future, and with the desire to bring prosperity and stability to our states in this generation, as well as the desire to continue proving that we are good Europeans and that here, in Southeastern Europe, we preserve, undiminished, the will to remain promoters of freedom, democracy, dignity and steadiness," His Royal Highness Prince Radu stated.

In his turn, President of the Moldovan Parliament Igor Grosu described the initiative as "a beautiful event, dedicated to the people on both sides of the Pruth."

"I am glad to see here many familiar faces, people who are developing the Republic of Moldova daily through courage and perseverance. With these people we managed to save our country, to move forward and to make our voice heard in all the corners of the world. Let us applaud them for courage, determination and for love for the country," Grosu stated.

He underscored that in the elections on 28 September, "together, we proved the whole world that we are a country of brave and dignified people."

"We did not allow ourselves to be bought, intimidated or frightened. We mobilized and protected our country through honest voting. We showed that the freedom of a nation is far too great to fit into a bag of money and we gave the most important lesson of democracy, that even an abuser like Russia can be defeated if you fight with the strongest force a country has: the people. When the state and its citizens defend their country, everyone wins. Through our vote, we proved that our place is in the European Union and that Moldovans are Europeans," Igor Grosu pointed out.

The President of the Moldovan Parliament thanked the Royal House of Romania for the support granted along the path toward European integration.

"Our road is safer because we have reliable friends. The Romanian Royal House has always stood by us on this path and I thank Her Majesty for the love you have for our country and people. Romania has always been and remains by our side in crucial moments, it unconditionally supports our European path, extends a helping hand in difficult times and it is a trusted partner. Today, when the Republic of Moldova moves firmly toward European integration, Romania's support, of the state, of the society and the Royal House is essential. Together we are building lasting bridges between our institutions, between our communities, between people," he underscored.

Igor Grosu gave assurances that the Republic of Moldova will make efforts so that by 2028, it becomes a member of the European Union.

"Today, we celebrate Romanian culture, language and traditions. We have ideals which unite us. And today, I want to assure you that the Republic of Moldova is firmly determined to be close to Romania, as is natural, as part of the great European family. We are ready to work tirelessly so that, in 2028, we become full members, be the generation of European integration. We thank you for your trust, support and friendship. Many happy returns to Romania! Many happy returns to the Republic of Moldova," Igor Grosu concluded.

Also attending the event alongside Her Majesty and His Royal Highness Prince Radu was Princess Sofia. Among the guests were members of Romania's Government and the Government of the Republic of Moldova, Romanian state officials, local authorities, figures from civil society and the business community, representatives of the Romanian Army and the Church, members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Bucharest and local producers from the Republic of Moldova.

The event, held in the garden of the Elisabeta Palace, was attended by notable figures from education, economy, science, agriculture, music, sports and visual arts, as well as organizations, foundations and associations from both countries, along with teachers and students.

Also participating in the event were the "Mihai Viteazul" 30th Guard Brigade, the Representative Music of the National Defence Ministry, the 1st Cavalry Gendarmes Detachment within the General Directorate of Gendarmerie of the Municipality of Bucharest.
