Proposals for ambassadorial positions on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs's behalf

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made proposals for ambassadorial positions, which it has submitted to the select committees of the Romanian Parliament, with the request for a hearing, the ministry informs on Thursday.

Thus, George Gabriel Bologan is proposed ambassador to the Holy See and the Sovereign Order of Malta. He has been a presidential adviser (Department of Foreign Policy) since February 2024. Previously, he was Consul General of Romania in Milan (2012), Ambassador of Romania to Italy (2016-2022) and Ambassador of Romania to the Kingdom of Spain (2022-2024).

Dan Stoenescu is proposed ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. He has been in charge of the European Union affairs in Syria since September 2021.

Sergiu Nistor is proposed as ambassador to Latvia. He has been a presidential adviser (Department of Culture, Cults and National Minorities) since January 2015.

Carmen Ileana Mihalcescu is the MAE proposal as ambassador to Greece. She has been Consul General of Romania in Thessaloniki since 2023.

Nicolae Comanescu is proposed as ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands. He has been State Counselor for Foreign Policy and Strategic Affairs in the Chancellery of the Prime Minister of the Government of Romania, since June 2023.

Radu-Mihail Filip is the MAE proposal as ambassador to Uruguay. He is spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and director of the Spokesperson and Media Relations Directorate of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since June 2022.

Sena Latif is proposed as ambassador to the Republic of India, the People's Republic of Bangladesh and the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, residing in New Delhi. She is a career diplomat, with 19 years of experience, deputy head of mission at the Romanian Embassy in France, where, between 2022 and 2023, she also held the position of head of mission (chargé d'affaires ad interim).

After the hearings in the select committees of the Romanian Parliament and obtaining their opinion, respectively after receiving the approval from the receiving state, the president of Romania will sign the accreditation decrees and the letters of credence.
