The discussions at the Finance Ministry were totally different from what happened at the Government, as we were not even allowed to speak the first hour, Valentina Saygo, economist, accountant and entrepreneur, told AGERPRES.
"We met with Minister Bolos, the president of ANAF [the National Agency for Fiscal Administration] and various other people, very many people from the ministry and ANAF, who we don't know who they are, didn't introduce themselves. (...) The minister did not bring arguments, the minister said the same thing, that e-TVA will uncover the merry-go-round, tax evasion, the same thing, several times," Valentina Saygo added.
Asked what measures they will take next, the protesters' representative said that no decision had been taken yet.
"It was totally different from what happened at the Government. At the Government we were listened to, we were understood. We come back in two days with some punctual, technical, very technical solutions, while at the Finance Ministry we were not even allowed to talk during the first hour of discussion. But, all the same, if my colleagues have stayed, they have advanced some discussions. We are waiting for the rest of our colleagues to come out and see what the conclusion is. We will think it through, not in haste," Valentina Saygo added.
Accountants and economists protested on Monday, unhappy with the "pace and chaos of tax legislation," while calling for fundamental changes in the country's tax policy.
The protest organised by the Employers' Association of the Accountant Entrepreneurs in Romania (PACR) is also supported by the National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT) and the Federation of Employers in the Hospitality Industry in Romania (FPIOR), the Family Doctors' Employers' Association and OFA UGIR.
