The scenario of a PSD - AUR government is "highly unlikely", said President Nicusor Dan on Tuesday, during a press conference, after participating in the Three Seas Initiative Summit.
He recalled the statement of PSD President Sorin Grindeanu, in this regard, agerpres reports.
"There are some people who are party leaders, they speak on behalf of tens of thousands of people and when they say something, we have to take them seriously", said the head of state.
Nicusor Dan was asked about the probability of early elections being held in the current political context.
"Of course, as I said, we are still moving forward with scenarios, but we had the list of scenarios from the beginning. This scenario is extremely, extremely unlikely, because we have had similar political crises, none of those crises ended with early elections and it is a scenario, theoretically we have it like that, but we should not take it too seriously," he replied.
Asked whether he would still trust the social democrats, he called for an evaluation of their activity in the coalition government.
"We are talking here about institutional relations, not personal relations. Institutionally, it is an evaluation that I make, they did a good thing that they did by voting for the SAFE program today," he pointed out.
Regarding Romania's pro-Western orientation, he reiterated that he would not appoint a prime minister from a government with AUR.
"First of all, we have the parties' declaration. None of the pro-European parties says they want to form a government with anti-Western forces, AUR. That is one thing and then, in that scenario in which I will have to appoint a prime minister, I repeat, I will make sure that this does not happen," the head of state also said.
