The Social Democratic Party's Dambovita branch voted on Saturday against continuing participation in government "in the current coalition, with the current prime minister".
The proposal was made by PSD Dambovita leader Corneliu Stefan at the County Conference of the PSD League of Local Elected Officials, attended by party Chairman Sorin Grindeanu and several Social Democrat ministers.
"If you allow me, Mr. Chairman [Grindeanu], today in Targoviste are the people who will also vote on April 20 (...), we will take part in that debate with 5,000 people, at your proposal, but now we are looking each other in the eye, we are face to face in this hall. I would like us here, today, to put to the vote of my colleagues from PSD Dambovita whether they agree or not for us to carry on in this coalition, with the current prime minister, with toxic parties and, of course, the way we stand today. Dear colleagues, do you agree to carry on in the current coalition? Who is in favour? Nobody. Against? So everyone has voted to change the rules in the coalition," said PSD Dambovita president Corneliu Stefan.
He also proposed five working themes for the Social Democrats: funding projects in health, education, administrative reform, reducing the number of MPs, and a program for local communities.
"In the past year we've had a prime minister who has governed the country only with scissors," Corneliu Stefan added, concluding that PSD is the one paying the political cost of government decisions.
