Chamber Speaker Sorin Grindeanu met with European Council President António Costa to discuss the future of the EU budget.

"Excellent meeting with António Costa @eucopresident, President of the European Council, on the future EU budget. Europe's budget must work for citizens - supporting jobs, farmers, education, health and local development, not bureaucracy," Social Democratic Party (PSD) interim chairman Sorin Grindeanu wrote on X platform on Saturday.

Grindeanu also met Iratxe Garcia Perez, President of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) Group in the European Parliament.

"Productive discussion with @IratxeGarper, President of @TheProgressives, on the next EU budget and Romania's role in shaping a fair, social Europe. We stand for investment, not austerity," Grindeanu wrote on X.

Sorin Grindeanu is attending the Party of European Socialists (PES) Congress, in the period 16 - 18 October, organised in Amsterdam, alongside centre-left colleagues from all over Europe.

During the Congress, the PSD interim chair has scheduled a series of bilateral meetings.
