The Social Democratic Party (PSD) Senator Lucian Romascanu said on Monday that negotiations to share leadership positions in the two chambers of the Parliament and in standing committees are stalled, and the Social Democrats are unhappy with the way they are being treated by MPs of centre-right parties.

"Unfortunately, we are in the situation where we had to interrupt these negotiations, because there is a particularly inflexible approach on certain matters and the situation of the PSD, that of winning the elections, deserves fair treatment from their negotiating colleagues. We are currently in a situation of gridlock, waiting for a response from the right-wing coalition's negotiating teams, to succeed in getting out of this impasse for the good of all. If not, it is very possible that we will not have this Government very soon," Romascanu said at the Palace of Parliament.

He also said what would happen if a consensus was not reached.

"It is very possible that we will have an extension of the period by which the validation committee report will be adopted. According to our count, on Christmas Day," Romascanu said.

The option in which the oath will not be taken is not taken into account at this time.

"There are five days, according to the regulation, these five days until the adoption of the validation committee report, fall on Christmas Day, then Saturday, Sunday follow. Things need to be decided at this time by the leaderships of the two Chambers, the leaderships provided by the most senior MPs , who will pass on how the program will go on," he noted.
