Her Royal Highness Princess Sofia, in the garden of Elisabeta Palace on Thursday, presented the awards to the winners of the 20th edition of the international competition "Queen Marie's Fairy Tales."
The ceremony was attended by 80 participants (50 prize winners and 30 honourable mentions), along with teachers and parents, from cities across Romania including Bucharest, Arad, Arges, Brasov, Calarasi, Bihor, Galati, Sibiu, Cluj, Gorj, Olt, Botosani, Mehedinti, Dolj, Teleorman, Timis, Tulcea, Valcea, as well as from countries such as France, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Latvia and Bulgaria.
This year's edition, which brought together over 600 participants from across the country, featured four sections: visual arts, fairy tale, journal entry, and essay.
'It was an anniversary edition, 20 years, filled with emotional significance, because yesterday, at the Children's Palace in Craiova, we celebrated Dana Calafeteanu, the heart and soul of this competition, for her prestigious teaching career,' said Eugenia Pascu, Director of the Children's Palace in Craiova.
The "Queen Marie's Fairy Tales" International Competition was launched at the initiative of the Children's Palace Craiova and the Dolj County School Inspectorate, with the participation of the "Fratii Buzesti" National College and "Carol I" National College in Craiova. The first edition took place in 2006.
The competition is held under the High Patronage of Her Majesty Margareta, Custodian of the Crown, and HRH Prince Radu.
