Political analyst Cristian Parvulescu considers that Viorica Dancila's nomination as premier by President Iohannis could be, as far as his interests go, "an error" but maintains that the head of state accepted this premier proposal because he assessed the situation as unfavourable for snap elections.

"President Iohannis has accepted this proposal because he did not have enough leeway and he also did not assess the situation as being favourable for snap elections. It might be the case that this decision of President Iohannis, as far as his interests go, is an error. It is to be expected, this time around, the prime minister not clash with the party's leader [Social Democratic Party (PSD), major at rule - ed.n.], follow the party's logic and not the state and government logic, even if pressure is of a different nature, and PSD puts forth a stable government," Parvulescu told AGERPRES on Wednesday night.

"Mrs. Dancila is far closer to Mr. Dragnea than the previous premiers. She belonged to Teleorman organisation, so she will have a completely different relation with Mr. Dragnea," Parvulescu further said.

People's Movement Party (PMP) senator, former president of Romania, Traian Basescu affirmed on Wednesday night that by appointing Viorica Dancila as premier, Klaus Iohannis has endangered his second presidential mandate at Cotroceni (Cotroceni Presidential Palace - ed.n).

"In my opinion he didn't gain anything. Iohannis hasn't won the second mandate today, quite the contrary. Given the ease in nominating the lady from Teleorman, Iohannis endangers his second mandate," Traian Basescu told private TV broadcaster B1TV.

The PMP leader said that the entire arsenal of criticism brought by Iohannis in 2017 no longer has any credibility. At the same time Basescu maintains that "if Iohannis wanted to put a stop to the fiscal hopping, he would have given the premier position to a politician from the opposition."

Basescu underscored that the Government will be led in an unconstitutional manner and the one making the decisions in the Executive will be Liviu Dragnea (PSD's national leader, ed. n.).

Former premier Dacian Ciolos states, in a message posted on Wednesday evening on his social media page, that although it hasn't made any effort to understand its mistakes, the PSD-ALDE (the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats, minor at rule - ed.n.) coalition has received a third chance with regard to ruling.

"Tonight I have sent a message to the over 40,000 supporters of Romania 100 Platform, a message equally appropriate for each and every one of you who wishes to join us: Dear friends, the PSD-ALDE Coalition has been given tonight not the second but the third chance, after making no effort whatsoever to understand its mistakes. There is a logic of democracy which, unfortunately, does not seem to apply in the case of these two parties," Ciolos affirms.

"Let us replace the disappointment and frustration with something else: with the promise that we, every one of us, will behave differently, we will manage to propose solutions to be accepted and supported by society. At the future elections, we must be the voice of decency, normality and hope. Otherwise, each such governance is a loss of chance for a normal existence and evolution as a country as a society. We have each other. We are not few and we are not powerless. We shall resist and we shall build a real alternative. Together!", concludes the former premier, in the message posted on his Facebook page.
