Renewing Romania's European Project (REPER) party representatives are calling for a recount of the votes for the European Parliament elections in all the country's counties, mentioning that the Buzau County Electoral Bureau (BEJ) had started this recount, but the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) president was trying to block it.

"As a result of the numerous existing disputes, as well as the blatant errors identified, the vote centralisation process is impossible to carry out. Some county electoral offices, such as the Buzau BEJ, have assumed the recounting of all the votes, as the only solution to correct the existing errors, despite the threats made by Toni Grebla, president of the AEP, who is currently blocking the county-wide recount requested by the Buzau BEJ. This is the right solution that must be applied throughout the country," says a REPER press release.

According to representatives of the party, "it is unacceptable to have any suspicion about the outcome of the elections, and those responsible for the existing disaster, as is the case of the president of the AEP, must resign immediately."

"REPER undertakes to continue to fight for the correctness of the process of counting and centralisation of the votes of citizens, and will also take the necessary legal steps, including in criminal matters where necessary. Only through firm and responsible action can we restore public confidence in our democracy," the source said.
