Bilateral relations between Romania and France are stronger than ever, and cooperation in the field of labor and social security is a priority under the strategic partnership between the two countries, mentions a press release issued by the Ministry of Labour, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity.

"March 20 is the International Day of La Francophonie. This date was chosen in reference to March 20, 1970, which marked the establishment in Niamey (Niger) of the Agency for Cultural and Technical Cooperation (ACCT), which was to become the International Organization of La Francophonie," the ministry representatives say.

According to the cited source, La Francophonie does not only mean a common language and culture, but also values such as solidarity, diversity and collaboration.

"Romania is a flagship state of La Francophonie. We have common values, cultures that bring us closer and convergent strategic objectives. Strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of labour and social security, is, therefore, essential to protect the rights of employees, to stimulate social inclusion and to build together a fairer and more sustainable economy and society," the Minister of Labour, Simona Bucura Oprescu, was quoted as saying in the press release.

According to her, protecting the rights of Romanian employees in France and French employees in Romania, developing the social economy and supporting vulnerable groups are essential objectives of the Strategic Partnership Roadmap.

"An eloquent example of the Romanian-French economic collaboration is the Dacia plant in Mioveni, an engine of the national economy and one of the largest employers in Romania. Under the umbrella of the Renault Group, Dacia has become a symbol of industrial performance and innovation in the automotive industry," the press release states.

According to the cited source, France is Romania's third economic partner. At the same time, Romanians represent the second largest labour force in France in construction and agriculture. Almost 10,000 Romanian doctors work in the French healthcare system, the ministry further specifies in the press release. AGERPRES
