The "160 Years Since the Founding of the Royal House of Romania" exhibition will open on Thursday at 12:00, in the presence of the Custodian of the Crown, Margareta, and Prince Radu, in the Kretzulescu Halls of the Royal Palace - the National Museum of Art of Romania (MNAR).

Prince Radu, National Museum of Art of Romania Director General Erwin Kessler and AGERPRES National News Agency Director General Claudia Nicolae will deliver speeches.

Organised by the National Museum of Art of Romania, the Association of the House of Her Majesty and AGERPRES National News Agency to mark 160 years since the founding of the Royal House of Romania (1866 - 2026), the documentary exhibition includes 32 photographic plates from AGERPRES, relevant in evoking important moments in the history of monarchy in Romania.

Alongside the valuable selection of photographs from the archive of AGERPRES National News Agency, the exhibition also brings together works of sculpture, watercolour and decorative art.

The selection of photographs documents significant moments from the two reigns of King Mihai I, continuing with images from the period of his return to the country in 1997 and from the contemporary activity of Her Majesty Margareta.

These are complemented by 15 objects from the heritage of the National Museum of Art of Romania - portraits of all the kings and queens of Romania, from the bronze bust of Prince Carol I as captured by German artist Carl Cauer, the bronze bust of Queen Elisabeth by Wladimir Hegel, the marble bust of King Mihai I by Oscar Han, to watercolours signed by Carol Popp de Szathmari and Costin Petrescu depicting King Ferdinand and Queen Marie.

The exhibition will also feature several precious decorative art objects, including a cup created by Emile Galle in 1900, decorated with the signature of Queen Elisabeth, and a clasp adorned with precious stones, worn by Princess Ileana at the Coronation ceremony in Alba Iulia in 1922.

Representatives of the government and other state institutions, members of the Diplomatic Corps and personalities from civil society will attend the event.

The "160 Years Since the Founding of the Royal House of Romania" exhibition can be visited until 30 April. Access is via Valter Maracineanu Street.
