Romania's national team defeated Andorra with a score of 4-1 (0-0), on Wednesday, in Voluntari, in their first match in Group 7 of the 2026 Under-19 European Championship qualifiers.
After an unexpected 0-0 at half-time, the team coached by Adrian Dulcea scored twice in the second half, through Mihai Toma (minute 47), from FCSB, Troy Tomsa (58, 62), who plays for Sassuolo, and Stefan Senciuc (83), a player on loan from CFR Cluj to ASA Targu Mures.
Cesar Gonzalez Garcia (69) scored for the Andorra.
In the other match of the group, Finland defeated Iceland 3-2, in Buftea.
On Saturday, November 15, the matches Romania - Finland ((Voluntari, 4:00 PM) and Iceland - Andorra (FRF Football Center - Buftea, 11:00 AM) will be played.
The top two teams qualify for the elite round, which will take place in the spring of 2026.
The 2026 UEFA Under-19 European Championship will be held in Wales, June 28 to July 11, in the cities of Wrexham, Bangor and Colwyn Bay. In addition to the host team, the seven group winners from the elite round will also qualify for this tournament.
At this year's Under-19 European Championship, hosted by Romania, the Romanian team reached the semifinals.
