Romania is not losing a single euro from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) for the transport sector after, after the technical discussions with representatives of the European Commission decided that the projects remaining in the PNRR be fully financed from European funds, without requiring co-financing from the state budget, the Ministry of Transport announced on Tuesday.
"The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (MTI) announces that Romania is not losing a single euro from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) for the transport sector. Following technical discussions with representatives of the European Commission, it was established that the projects remaining in the PNRR will be fully financed from European funds, without requiring co-financing from the state budget. Furthermore, the necessary financial adjustments - determined by price increases for construction materials, energy and fuel - will be covered from European funds, according to the provisions of Emergency Ordinance no. 64/2022", the institution said in a release.
"Important projects for Romania are moving forward, with European funding. Decisions taken in dialogue with the European Commission ensure predictability and continuity in infrastructure investments, and Romanians will benefit from them, without the burden of co-financing from the national budget," said the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Ciprian Serban, quoted in the press release.
He stressed, again, that the changes regarding financing through the PNRR are not caused by administrative errors or poor project management, but by certain technical inconsistencies between the European procurement system (JOUE) and the national one (SICAP), especially regarding the visibility of the publication of certain errata.
