"We are putting Romania where it belongs in the European Union! According to the latest data published by the European Commission - Agri data Europe, Romania has achieved historic performances this year: 1st place in grain exports; Record exports of almost half a billion euros in the first 10 months of 2025 for live animals: 210 million euros for sheep; 150 million euros for cattle; 100 million euros for poultry. I bow before the Romanian farmers and producers! Agriculture is Romania's greatest wealth!," Minister Barbu conveyed on his Facebook page.

According to a Ministry of Agriculture release, Romania is strengthening its position as a leader in European agriculture, achieving historic results in 2025 in cereal and live animal exports to markets outside the European Union, according to the latest data published by the European Commission - Agri-food data Europe. Thus, Romania ranks first in the EU for cereal exports, a position it maintained in the first quarter of the 2025/2026 marketing year (1 July 2025 - 30 June 2026), confirming the competitive potential of the Romanian agriculture.

These results reflect the effectiveness of the measures adopted over the past two and a half years by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADR), through reforming the subsidy system, introducing state aid schemes dedicated to livestock and directing European funds towards investment in farms, processing and animal welfare.

"Romania is proving its agricultural potential and its ability to become a reliable supplier for international markets. Romanian farmers, supported through subsidies and investment programmes managed to achieve historic results and brought Romanian products to where they belong - at the top of the European Union," Agriculture Minister Florin Barbu said, as quoted in the release.

Through the 2023-2027 Strategic Plan and the support measures adopted, the MADR has provided the livestock and crop sectors with: over 3 billion euros for investment in livestock farms, processing units and irrigation; coupled support schemes and national transitional aids tailored to each sector - sheep, cattle and poultry; welfare and biosecurity programmes financed from European funds and the state budget; tools to promote Romanian products on markets in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia.

"The results achieved in 2025 confirm that Romania holds a leading position in European agriculture, strengthening its role as a strategic exporter and a reliable agricultural partner within the European Union," the MADR release pointed out.
