Romania is interested in developing public-private partnerships in key-areas, especially for the construction of new hospitals and major infrastructure projects, announced Finance Minister Alexandru Nazare, who met on Tuesday in Paris with representatives of some of the largest French investors and business groups.
"Consistent meeting today in Paris with representatives of some of the largest French investors and business groups in technology, telecommunications, energy and defense - companies that already have a significant presence in Romania or are analyzing the expansion of investments. The discussions were applied and focused on concrete topics. I highlighted several important elements to the French investors: the acceleration of the digitalization of ANAF [tax authority] and the direction of modernization of the tax administration in Romania; the direction of budgetary stability and the main pillars of medium-term development; public-private partnerships (PPP), as a real tool for accelerating investments", the minister of finance wrote on Facebook on Tuesday.
He emphasized that France has solid experience in PPPs, including in health and complex infrastructure, and this know-how is extremely valuable for Romania.
"I also emphasized in this context that Romania is interested in developing public-private partnerships in key areas, especially for the construction of new hospitals and major infrastructure projects. There are areas where the need for PPP is accentuated, and private capital can efficiently complement public investment. France has solid experience in PPPs, including in healthcare and complex infrastructure, and this know-how is extremely valuable for Romania. We see this type of partnerships not only as financing solutions, but as opportunities for growth, transfer of expertise and faster delivery of quality public services," he added.
Nazare said that Romania remains open to "serious investments, with added value", and the dialogue with the French business milieu confirms the interest in "concrete, well-structured and predictable projects".
