Romania, Moldova consolidate cooperation in transport and transport infrastructure
Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Sorin Grindeanu on Thursday assured his Moldovan counterpart Andrei Spinu, of the constant support that the Romanian state gives to the neighbouring country in the perspective of joining the European Union, told Agerpres.
"Today I discussed with my counterpart from across the Prut, Andrei Spinu, about strengthening cooperation and I assured him of the constant support that the Romanian state gives to the Republic of Moldova in the perspective of joining the European Union. This approach is also reflected in the two Memoranda of Understanding that I signed today, together with the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Moldova," Grindeanu wrote on his Facebook page.
The first Memorandum of Understanding, on cooperation in the area of digitisation of road freight transport, will contribute to the improvement of international road freight transport and the simplification of road freight transport regulation.
"The e-CMR project is part of a wider strategy to digitise trade facilitation systems that will generate increased efficiency and lower operational costs," the minister added.
The second Memorandum signed is aimed at developing relations in the area of transport and transport infrastructure, and cooperation will take the form of developing, coordinating and monitoring transport and transport infrastructure policies; working together to transpose European Union directives into Moldovan national transport and transport infrastructure legislation; improving transport infrastructure policy to identify and assess more thoroughly infrastructure projects by transport modes; collaborating and exchanging best practices in accessing EU funds for transport infrastructure development.
