Romania will participate for the second consecutive year with a national stand in the Goof Books Fair taking place in Wroclaw over November 30 - December 3, in the Centennial Hall, one of the architectural masterpieces of the 20th century and the most famous work of modernism in Wroclaw, informs the Romanian Cultural Institute from Warsaw.
The Romanian stand will show and sell numerous volumes and publications appeared in Poland in the recent years, and also dictionaries and albums about Romania. Thus, the public will be able to buy books written by Romanian authors and translated into Polish, among which some have won numerous awards, such as "My Native Land A4", by Ana Blandiana, a winner of the European Poet of Freedom Award 2016, "The Whispers Book", by Varujan Vosganian, winner in 2016 of the Great Prize, the Readers' Prize and the Prize for the Best Translation at the ANGELUS Central European Literary Award, Medgidia, "The City of Tomorrow" by Cristian Teodorescu and "King's Days" by Filip Florian, all reached the short list at the ANGELUS Gala in 2016 and 2017.
There will also be novelties this year: books by Lucian Dan Teodorovici, Emil Cioran, Dan Lungu and Adrian Cioroianu. On Saturday, December 2, at the Fair, writer Dan Lungu will meet his Polish readers for the launch of his novel "The Girl Who Used to Play God", recently translated in Polish. After the launch he will offer autographs at the Romanian stand.
Romanian literature will also be promoted at the Polish Fair through a series of brochures and other promotional materials in Polish language prepared by ICR Warsaw, which tell about the most recent Romanian books published in Poland and about the ones now in preparation. The recent years have seen a true record in he number of Romanian volumes published in Poland, with more than 30 volumes of Romanian authors translated into Polish.
The Good Books Fair in Wroclaw, now in its 26th edition, is one of the most important and appreciated events of the kind in Poland, alongside the book fairs from Cracovia and Warsaw.
