Romania qualifies for round of 16 at European Mini Football Championship

Romania, the reigning world champion, qualified for the round of 16 of the European Mini Football Championship - EMF EURO 2024 in Sarajevo (Bosnia-Herzegovina) on Sunday after defeating Poland 5-2 in a Group D match.

After the 9-0 win over Turkey, the tricolour team got a new victory with goals scored by Dragos Nitu (20th minute), Marius Balogh (25th+2nd minute - penalty and 50th+2nd minute), Andrei Sumalan (31st minute) and Alexandru Nechita (48th), according to the Facebook page of the Romanian Mini Football Federation.

In the other group match, Hungary defeated Turkey 2-0.

Romania and Hungary occupy the top two places with 6 points each.

On Monday, at 21:45, Romania, six-time European champions, will play Hungary.

At the previous edition of the European Championship in 2022, Romania was defeated in the final by Azerbaijan.
