The National Public Health Institute (INSP) on Tuesday reported that between January 6 and 12, 162 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 were reported in Romania, up 86.2% from the previous week.
According to INSP, 52 of the new cases were in reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection.
Between January 6 and 12, seven deaths were reported in people with COVID-19, four new deaths and three reported more than a week after registration, all in patients with comorbidities.
So far, 69,243 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection have died in Romania.
As of this week, 3,582,293 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection were recorded in the country.
Last week, 776 RT-PCR tests and 16,068 rapid antigen tests were performed. The positivity rate was 1%.
So far, 14,039,058 RT-PCR tests and 15,169,720 rapid antigen tests have been processed nationwide.
