The National Public Health Institute (INSP) has reported that in July 2025, 1,703 new cases of people infected with SARS-CoV-2 were reported in Romania, up 232% from June 2025.
According to INSP, 442 of the new cases were in reinfected patients who tested positive more than 90 days after the first infection, agerpres reports.
In July, seven deaths were reported in people with COVID-19, five men and two women: four in the age group 70 - 79 years and three over 80 years old, all with associated comorbidities.
Also last month, 860 RT-PCR tests and 14,750 rapid antigen tests were performed, up 25.5% from the previous month. The positivity rate was 10.9%, up 6.8% from the previous month. .
As of end-July, 3,586,193 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection were recorded in Romania, and 69,266 people diagnosed with SARS-CoV-2 infection died.
