Romania reports 92,865 cases of respiratory infections, March 24 - 30, four more confirmed flu deaths

The number of acute respiratory infection cases - clinical flu, acute upper respiratory tract infections and pneumonia - in Romania for the week March 24 - 30 is standing at 92,865, down 4.6% from the previous week, and there were also five more confirmed influenza deaths, bringing the number of such deaths this season to 72, the National Institute of Public Health (INSP) reported on Thursday.

The number is up 11.3% from the same week of the previous season (83,472). The variation in addition to the calculated average of 80,296 cases in the last five seasons, excluding pandemic seasons, was 15.7%.

According to INSP, 2,413 cases of clinical influenza were reported at national level in the same period, as against 812 cases in the same week of the previous season and 3,845 in the previous week.

The following was also reported: 57 cases of laboratory-confirmed cases of influenza, of which 28 cases of unsubtyped influenza A virus, 11 cases of influenza B virus, 9 cases of influenza AH1 virus, eight cases of influenza AH3 virus and one case of influenza A virus co-infection with influenza B virus.

As of March 30 1,155,229 people vaccinated against influenza were recorded in the National Electronic Vaccination Register (RENV).
