Romanian tennis player Mihaela Buzarnescu on Tuesday advanced to the women's singles R16 of the 226,750-USD Hungarian Ladies Open after defeating Spain's Lara Arruabarrena Vecino 7-6 (5) 6- 1.
For her performance so far, Buzarnescu won 3,400 US dollars and 30 WTA singles points, and in the next round she plays 23-year-old Belgian Alison van Uytvanck, world number 80.
Other Romanians playing on the main draw of the Hungarian Ladies Open are Sorana Cirstea, who meets today Viktoria Kuzmova (Slovakia), and Monica Niculescu, to play Kirsten Flipkens on Wednesday. In the doubles event, Buzarnescu play alongside compatriot Irina Maria Bara.
