Romania's industrial output advanced 7.7 percent in the first nine months of 2017, in raw data, and by 8.7 percent when adjusted for work days and seasonality, compared with the similar period of 2016, according to data with the National Institute of Statistics (INS) released on Monday.
According to the INS, against the same month of the previous year, industrial output (raw data) increased by 4.2 percent in September, on increases in all industrial sectors: mining and quarrying (+ 11.1 percent), manufacturing (2 percent) and the production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (+ 1.9 percent).
The industrial output adjusted for work days and seasonality increased by 7.6 percent as a result of increases in mining and quarrying (+ 11.4 percent), manufacturing (+ 7.6 percent), as well as the production and supply of electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning (+ 2.6 percent).
In September 2017, the industrial production rose by 16.5 percent over the previous month in raw series due to an increase in manufacturing (+ 18.7 percent). Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and supply, as well as mining and quarrying decreased by 2.7 percent and 0.8 percent, respectively.
The industrial production adjusted for work days and seasonality, decreased 0.7 percent on a monthly basis. Manufacturing and mining and quarrying decreased by 1.5 percent and 1.3 percent, respectively. Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and supply increased by 1.0 percent.
The INS data also show that between January 1 and September 30, 2017, compared with the similar interval of 2016, industrial output unadjusted terms was up 7.7 percent as a result of increases in the three industrial sectors: manufacturing (+8.8 percent), mining and quarrying (+ 5.8 percent), as well as and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and supply (+ 1.8 percent).
The industrial output adjusted for work days and seasonality, between January 1 and September 30, 2017, compared with the similar period of the year before increased by 8.7 percent due to increases in manufacturing (+8.9 percent), mining and quarrying (+ 5.1 percent), as well as electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning production and supply (+ 2.3 percent).
