Romania imported 618,300 tonnes of oil equivalent (toe) worth of usable natural gas in the first five months of this year, by 13.4 percent (73,100 toe) more than in the same period of 2017, show figures centralised by the National Institute of Statistics (INS)
The domestic natural gas production in the reporting period stood around 3.5 million toe, by 1.6 pct (53,400 toe) more than in the same period last year.
According to Romania's Energy Strategy posted on the website of the Energy Ministry, the country's gas production is expected to slowly decrease between 2016 - 2030 to an annual average of 9 - 10 bln cubic metres.
