Romania's national water polo team defeated Slovakia 16-8 (5-3, 4-2, 2-0, 5-3) on Sunday in their first match of Group D of the Men's European Water Polo Championship in Belgrade.
The Romanians delivered a consistent performance, winning all four quarters by a two-goal margin.
Alexandru Gheorghe, Darian Luncan and Vlad Georgescu each scored three goals, while Andrei Neamtu and Nicolae Oanta score two goals each, while Matei Lutescu, Tudor Fulea, and Levente Vancsik contributed one goal each.
For Slovakia, Lukas Seman (2), Maros Tkac (2), Lukas Durik (1), Matej Caraj (1), Tomas Bielik (1) and Samuel Balaz (1) were the scorers.
In the other group match, Italy defeated Türkiye 19-8.
Tuesday's matches include Slovakia vs. Italy (19:00) and Türkiye vs. Romania (21:30).
