Romania will participate with 15 athletes - 8 boys and 7 girls - in the U19 European Boxing Championships, which will take place in Ostrava, Czech Republic, from 28 September to 10 October.
The Romanian team's objective is to win at least two medals, according to a statement sent to AGERPRES.
In the girls' competition (coaches: Adrian Lacatus and Mihaela Lacatus), Romania will be represented by: Denisa Ana Maria Duta (ACS Iorgu Bucharest / 48 kg), Natalia Maria Semenciuc (LPS Banatul Timisoara / 50 kg), Rebeca Micaela Muller (CSM Drobeta Turnu-Severin / 54 kg), Mirela Elisa Cojocaru (CS Dinamo Bucharest / 57 kg), Rocio Trigos Bucur (CS Navodari / 60 kg), Amalia Tugui (CSM Danubiu Tulcea / 65 kg), Daniela Larisa Gheba (CS Unirea Focsani / 80 kg).
The boys' team, coached by George Mihai Pertea, Marian Pita and Alexander Izaguirre, includes: Razvan Ionuta Panainte (ACS Valea Lupului Iasi / 50 kg), Stefan Udroiu (CS Dinamo / 55 kg), Fabian Mihai Stroe (CSM Ploiesti / 60 kg), Darius Sorin Stegari (BastiBox Salonta / 65 kg), Daniel Grigorie (CSM Braila / 70 kg), Valentin Timofti (CSM Braila / 75 kg), Teofan Alexandru Butoi (CS Chimia Ramnicu Valcea / 90 kg), Denis Cristian Cucu (CSM Braila / +90 kg).
Romania will also be represented in the refereeing team by Iulian Botez.
Around 200 athletes from 30 countries are expected to participate in the 30th edition of the Under-19 European Championships (for athletes born in 2007 and 2008).
