The Romanian teams qualified for the first time, on Friday, in the finals of the Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup junior tennis competitions, hosted by Antalya.
In the Davis Cup, Romania defeated Germany 2-0 and will play in the final against the United States team.
Alejandro Mateo Berge Nourescu defeated Oliver Majdandzic 6-4, 6-1 in the first match, while Yannick Theodor Alexandrescu prevailed against Diego Dedura-Palomero 7-6 (7/5), 6-4.
Romania participates for the first time in the final tournament of the Davis Cup for juniors.
The USA team beat Japan 2-0 in the other semi-final.
For women, in the Billie Jean King Cup, Romania won the semifinal against Germany with a score of 2-0.
Giulia Safina Popa defeated Mariella Thamm 6-4, 7-5, and Maia Ilinca Burcescu defeated Julia Stusek 6-3, 6-1.
Romania, in its fifth participation in the Billie Jean King Cup for juniors (best result - 9th place in 2006), will play in the final against the United States team, victorious against the Czech Republic with 2-0.
