The Davis Cup match between Romania and Spain, for the qualifier in the competition's final round, will be disputed in Marbella, Spain during the period of March 4-5, the Romanian Tennis Federation informs on its official website.

"The International Tennis Federation announced that Marbella is the city that will host the meeting in the Davis Cup qualifiers, Romania - Spain, on March 4-5, 2022," according to the quoted website.

The matches will take place on a hard court and will be hosted by the "Puente Romano Hotel Tennis Club" sports ground in Marbella.

By disputing the Davis Cup round in this place, a homage will be paid to Spanish tennis player Manolo Santana, who died in December last year, who was connected to the club and Marbella for over 20 years, after discovering this city along with his good friend Bjorn Borg.

The winner of the match between Romania and Spain will qualify in the final event of the 2022 Davis Cup, which will take place in a new 16-team, 4-group format, with 4 different headquarters. The first two ranked in each group will then take part in the final tournament, in a city to be designated subsequently.
