Romania wins debut match at Under-19 European Women's Handball Championship

The Romanian national team defeated the Faroe Islands team with a score of 31-25 (14-13) on Wednesday, at Moraca Hall in Podgorica, in their opening match in Group D of the Under-19 European Women's Handball Championship in Montenegro.

The Romanian players were trailing 5-1 and 8-4, but managed to turn the game around by halftime (14-13). The team, coached by Ovidiu Mihaila, pulled away in the second half and won comfortably.

The goals for Romania's team were scored by: Enryka Valentina Bodijar - 6 goals, Anamaria Serban - 5, Eliza Florentina Lacusteanu - 5, Daria Florentina Mihaila - 4, Teodora Lavinia Damian - 4, Evelyn Vivienn Marton - 3, Maria Alexandra Voicu - 2, Ana-Maria Gavrila - 2, Silja Geirsdottir Eystberg (8 goals) and Marta Agnarsdottir Hoejgaard (5) stood out for the Faroe Islands team.

In the other match of the group, Germany and Spain ended in a draw, 29-29.

On Thursday, the following matches will take place: Spain vs. Faroe Islands, Germany vs. Romania.
