French Minister of European Affairs Nathalie Loiseau, on a visit in Bucharest from January 9 to 11, will discuss with Romanian officials about the summit in Sibiu and about the support France is granting the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

"Nathalie Loiseau, the Minister of European Affairs, is in Bucharest from January 9 to 11, in the context of Romania's presidency of the Council of the European Union. The minister will be welcomed by Prime Minister Viorica Dancila and will meet with the Minister Delegate for European Affairs, George Ciamba," shows the site of the Embassy of France in Bucharest.

The French official "will voice France's support for a successful Romanian presidency of the Council of the European Union, which has major stakes on the table," the cited source highlights.

"The Romanian Presidency will have to finalize the review of the European asylum system, taking into account the principles of solidarity and responsibility, and to advance the discussions on the EU budget in the period 2021-2027, paying close attention to reconcile traditional policies and the financing of new priorities," the site of the Embassy of France further informs.

Moreover, according to the cited source, France expects the Romanian presidency to make progress in areas such as social Europe and the fight against terrorism.

The Minister's visit comes as "the extension of the recent meeting in Paris between the President of the Republic and his Romanian counterpart, Klaus Iohannis, on November 27, last year," the diplomatic mission specifies.
