State Secretary for Strategic Affairs with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE), Dan Neculaescu, had a meeting on Monday with the Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control, Verification, and Compliance, Frank Rose, the discussions underlining the necessity for continuing efforts towards achieving the full operational capacity of the NATO anti-missile defence system, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) informs.
According to the cited source, the two officials have reviewed the stage and perspectives for implementing the main decisions adopted at the NATO Summit from Warsaw, emphasizing the consolidation measures of the Allied presence on the Eastern flank.
The two also underlined the importance of the high-level decision adopted this summer on stating the initial operational capacity of NATO Ballistic Missile Shield by integrating the facility from Deveselu.
"During discussions, also approached were issues of interest on regarding developments in the domain of arms control, in the context of the recent Ministerial Council of OSCE in Hamburg. State Secretary Dan Neculaescu expressed his support for launching a new structured dialog on this topic within OSCE, in view of modernizing the relevant instruments, on the basis of existing principles and towards achieving the assumed commitments", MAE specified.
