Romanian Ana Bogdan vaulted on Friday to the semifinals of the WTA EA Hua Hin Championship (Thailand), featuring 115,000 US dollars in total prize money, after defeating No. 3 seed, China's Duan Ying-Ying 6-1 6-3.
It took sixth seeded Ana Bogdan (age 24, WTA's 115th) one hour to outplay Duan, with excellent service stats (79 percent for the first, 88 percent for the second set). Duan (age 28, 95th WTA) succeeded no break of serve throughout the match.
This is Bogdan's second win against Duan this year, after knocking her out in the first Wimbledon round 6-4 6-2.
Ana Bogdan, who secured 6,000 dollars and 57 WTA points, will play next Swiss Belinda Bencic of Switzerland. AGERPRES .
