Romanian athlete Ecaterina Constantina Cismanescu secures bronze medal at 2025 European Youth Weightlifting Championships

Romanian athlete Ecaterina Constantina Cismanescu secured a bronze medal in the +77 kg category (Under-17) on Wednesday at the 2025 European Youth (Under-15 and Under-17) Weightlifting Championships, held in Madrid.

Cismanescu claimed the bronze in the snatch event, lifting 92 kg, after missing her final attempt at 94 kg. In the clean and jerk, she placed ninth with a 105 kg lift, missing her first and final attempts at 105 kg and 109 kg, respectively. She ranked seventh in the total with 197 kg.

Romania is fielding 19 athletes at the championships - 9 in the U17 category and 10 in the U15.

So far, Romania's medal tally has reached 13: five gold, four silver, and four bronze.

Maia Delia Andrei claimed three gold medals in the 48 kg category (Under-15), while Alexia Diana Sipos secured three silver medals in the 53 kg category (Under-17). Adelina Maria Lorint, competing in the same weight class, earned a bronze medal in the total. Lucian Florin Cambei, in the 56 kg category (Under-17), won gold in the snatch and total, and bronze in the clean & jerk. Florin Ispilante added another bronze for Romania in the 56 kg category (Under-15), in the clean & jerk. Ionela Bosinceanu earned a silver medal in the 63 kg category (Under-17), also in the clean & jerk. Ecaterina Constantina Cismanescu rounded out the medal count with a bronze in the snatch, in the +77 kg category (Under-17).
