Romanian athletes Ilie Sprincean and Oleg Nuta won the bronze medal in the men's 1,000-meter double canoe event on Saturday at the World Kayak-Canoe Championships in Duisburg, Germany, Agerpres reports.

The two Romanians were clocked with a time of 03 min 36 sec 490/1000, being overrun by the Italians Nicolae Craciun/Daniele Santini, 03 min 34 sec 565/1000, and the Germans Moritz Adam/Nico Pickert, 03 min 35 sec 296/ 1000.

Romania now has a record of three medals at the World Championships in Duisburg, one gold, won by Catalin Chirila in the 500 m single canoe, one silver, won by Catalin Chirila, in the 1,000 m single canoe, and one bronze, obtained by Ilie Sprincean and Oleg Nuta in double canoe over 1,000 m.

Sprincean and Nuta will perform on Saturday afternoon in the semi-finals of the 500 m double canoe event (Olympic).

Also on Saturday, Carmen Moritz placed 5th in Final E in the women's 500m single kayak (02:08.664).
