The Romanian Teqball Federation informs on Monday that the Romanian team won two titles at the World Championships in Odorheiu Secuiesc.

"Romania became a double world champion in Teqball at the Teqball World Championships, ROMANIA 2025, WTCH25. Of the five events/categories of our sport, two were won by Romania, two by Thailand and one by Serbia. Apor Gyorgydeak, world champion in men's singles, Kinga Barabasi - Apor Gyorgydeak, world champions in the mixed doubles event. Thailand and Romania stood out at the Teqball World Championships 2025 in Odorheiu Secuiesc, winning four of the five categories. The last day started with the women's singles final. Jutatip Kuntatong (Thailand), the defending champion, won the first set, then Kinga Barabasi (Romania) tied. The third set was surprisingly one-sided, and Kuntatong defended her title. The bronze medals were won by Anna Izsak (Hungary) and Yuina Sakamoto (Japan). The match Jutatip Kuntatong-Kinga Barabasi ended with the score of 2-1 (12-8, 10-12, 12-3)," the Romanian Teqball Federation showed in a press release.

Romania's representative, Apor Gyorgydeak, showed once again why he is considered the best player in the men's singles event, winning his third men's singles title and second in a row.

"I'm very grateful that I was able to make this happen. Winning the world championship at home, in the city where you were born and raised, is different; it means everything. Once I won the men's singles, I became stress-free, and this helped us in the mixed doubles," said Apor Gyorgydeak.

According to the Romanian Teqball Federation, the Gyorgydeak/Barabasi pair defeated the Thai pair, Suphawadi Wongkhamchan/Phakpong Dejaroen, 2-0.

"A huge dream came true today, winning at home in front of our public. Apor and I trained and prepared a lot for the mixed doubles, and the fact that we played the final in front of our home public meant a lot to us," said Kinga Barabasi.

The president of the International Teqball Federation (FITEQ), Gabor Borsanyi, showed that a new important stage has been reached for teqball, with the World Championships in Odorheiu Secuiesc being the strongest of all time.

"While one of the strongest World Teqball Championships of all time was held in Odorheiu Secuiesc, with fantastic organizers, where we witnessed wonderful matches, the Teqball family once again showed its incredible strength. In addition, starting next year, the Olympic Council of Asia has officially selected our beloved sport as a prize event at the Asian Games. Odorheiu Secuiesc has already proven, beyond expectations, that it is the second home of teqball and I am very proud that we can continue to bring the excellent attitude, professionalism and exceptional hospitality of the people here to the international stage," showed the president of the International Teqball Federation (FITEQ).

The Romanian Teqball Federation thanked the athletes and staff involved in preparing the team for this world event.

"We thank the International Teqball Federation, president Gabor Borsanyi and chairman Viktor Huszar, who made this event possible in Romania and who provided the budget for a world teqball festival in Romania! A special thought and thanks for the help provided by the president of the National Agency for Sports, Bogdan Constantin Matei. We also thank the president of the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, Mihai Covaliu, and the secretary general, George Boroi," concluded the Romanian Teqball Federation.
