Romanian author Radu Tuculescu died on Tuesday at the age of 76, according to a post on Facebook of the Scoala Ardeleana Publishing House, which published his most recent book.
"He was one of the most important Romanian contemporary writers, representative of the 1980s generation of Romanian literary postmodernism. He carried out a dynamic and diverse cultural activity for half a century, proving himself a man of many talents. He was a novelist, theatre director and playwright, with his plays being even better known in other countries than in Romania, a creative and innovative publicist, and also an excellent German-language translator," says the same source.
Radu Tuculescu recently republished his book "Povestirile mameibatrane. Satul de la marginea lumii" ["Old Mother's Stories. The Village at the Edge of the World"] with illustrations by artist Flavius Lucacel. The novel has already been published in France, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Serbia and is about to be translated in Canada.
