Romanian Aviation and Air Force Day, celebrated on Sunday in Bucharest

Romanian Aviation and Air Force Day was celebrated on Sunday, July 20, at the Monument to the Heroes of the Air in the Aviators' Square.

Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Deputy Prime Minister Ionut Mosteanu, Minister of National Defence, Minister of Foreign Affairs Oana Toiu, and head of the Department for Emergency Situations Raed Arafat participated in the military and religious ceremony with wreath laying in memory of aviation heroes.

Military aircraft belonging to the Romanian Air Force, namely F-16 Fighting Falcon, C-130 Hercules, C-27J Spartan, AN-30, IAK-52, IAR-330, and IAR-99, as well as EC-135 SMURD and S-70M BlackHawk helicopters and a Learjet 75 aircraft belonging to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, SA-365 Dauphin helicopters belonging to the Romanian Intelligence Service, a Boeing 737 TAROM aircraft and Extra 300 aircraft belonging to the Romanian Aeroclub, as well as Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft belonging to the Italian Air Force will perform in the ceremony.

Romanian Aviation and Air Force Day is celebrated every year on July 20, on the feast of St. Elijah the Thesvite, the patron saint of pilots.
