The two Romanian crews from the car section managed, on Monday, their best rankings at the current edition of the 2022 Dakar Rally and hold the best positions so far in the general rankings.
The crew Mihai Ban / Stefan Catalin Ion - Cheloo ranked 58th in the eighth stage, held between Al Dawadimi - Wadi Ad Dawasir, being timed 07 h 26 min 15 sec on 395 km, at 3 h 42 min 54 sec after the winner, the Swedish Mattias Ekstroem (Audi).
Iacob Ilie Buhai Hotea and Tudor Turdean ranked 59th, at 03:43 min 11 seconds from Ekstroem.
In the general rankings Ban/Ion are on the 54th place, at 40 h 54 min 15 seconds behind Qatari leader Nasser Al-Attiyah, while Buhai Hotea / Turdean are on the 59th, at 46 h 55 min 17 seconds.
The ninth stage will take place on Tuesday, on the 491 km loop race at Wadi Ad Dawasir, of which 287 km will be timed, Agerpres informs.
