Romanian driver Simone Tempestini secured the European team title with MRT Tyres despite finishing 10th on Sunday at the Croatia Rally, the eighth and final round of the European Rally Championship (ERC).
The crew made up of Simone Tempestini and Sergiu Itu (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo) finished 4 minutes 50.6 seconds behind winners Jon Armstrong and Shane Byrne from Ireland (Ford Fiesta Mk II), who completed the race in 1 hour 50 minutes 57.4 seconds, according to Agerpres.
Siblings Norbert and Francesca Maior (Citroen C3 Rally2), 2023 European junior champions, finished 8th overall, 4 minutes 27.5 seconds behind the winners.
The team made up of Catherine Radulescu and Bogdan Minea (Renault Clio Rally4) ranked 31st, 46 minutes 21.7 seconds behind.
In the final team standings, MRT Tyres topped the table with 208 points, followed by M Sport Ford WRT with 206 points.
Poland's Miko Marczyk is the new FIA European Rally Champion, with 154 points, followed by Ireland's Jon Armstrong with 148 points. Tempestini finished 9th with 36 points, while Norbert Maior ranked 19th with 26 points.
