Romanian fencer Alexandra Adoch won the silver medal in the individual foil event, Friday, at the European U17 Fencing Championships in Tbilisi, after being defeated in the final by 15-8 by Turkey's Alara Atmaca.
Adoch beat a representative of Turkey, Elif Ada Yildiz, by 15-7, then defeated another Turkish player, Elvin Gulisik, by 15-9, in the round of 16 she defeated the Pole Teresa Mos, by 15-10, in the quarterfinals she won the duel with the French Eloise Goutenegre, by 15-7, and in the semifinals she won over the Latvian Liene Abele, by 15-5.
In the men's cadet sabre event, Stefan Popa was the highest-ranked Romanian, in 13th place. He was defeated in the round of 16 by Polish Franciszek Golach, 15-8.
