The national firefighting module specialized in combating wildfires is carrying out a new intervention on Wednesday in the Kingdom of Spain, under the coordination of local emergency structures.

"In the north of the Ourense region, near the Avion locality, Romanian firefighters are working to limit the spread of forest fires, eliminate active outbreaks and consolidate a protection line to delimit the areas affected from those not yet affected by the flames", informs the Press Office of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU).

At the same time, the crews are intervening to free access routes, by clearing the dense vegetation in the vicinity of the outbreaks, thus facilitating the movement of special vehicles and the creation of safety corridors necessary for the subsequent interventions.

"Even if high temperatures, low humidity and variable winds make the mission difficult, the crews' sustained efforts are materializing through effective measures that contribute to limiting the spread of the fire," the cited source says.
