"The specialized intervention module for extinguishing wildfires will conduct the mission in the Galicia region, near the province of Ourense. This change of location occurred following a request from the Spanish authorities, taking into account the dynamics of the situation on the ground. The Romanian firefighters will operate close to the similar module from Finland," a Department for Emergency Situations (DSU) release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday informed.

According to the quoted source, the situation on the ground is dynamic and further changes may occur.

"Following the request sent by the authorities of the Kingdom of Spain, on August 17, through the European Civil Protection Mechanism, Romania provides international support to combat the forest fires this country is confronted with," the Department for Emergency Situations mentioned.
